Brisbane star Cam Rayner will miss the Lions’ AFL elimination final against Richmond after failing to overturn a rough conduct charge at the tribunal.
Rayner was reported for a heavy tackle on Melbourne’s Ben Brown in Brisbane’s 58-point loss to the defending premiers on Friday night.
Rayner’s lawyer, Adrian Anderson, argued despite Brown’s face being covered in blood after the tackle, “it was not objectively the sort of dangerous tackle” that warranted the charge of careless conduct, with medium impact and high contact.

But tribunal chairman Jeff Gleeson said the tackle was “inherently dangerous”, backing up the grading and upholding the one-game suspension.
